fracture recovery in collar bone right hand side ?

i got into a accident and got a fracture in collar bone , like to know how long will it take to recover as its happened in right hand sholder it hard to use it went to a ortho and put a elastic strap and told me to rest is tht enough ? to revover can do work after 2 months can i lift things like i did before ? pls some one tell abt it

I had a friend who broke a collar bone in a car smash. He was told they only strap it, because anything more solid causes the muscles to waste away.

Over a few weeks he was able to use the arm more and more, as the bone started healing so hurt less from movement. After three weeks the bone was healed, but his shoulder was quite slopey on that side, because he'd mostly kept the arm down of course.

But as it no longer hurt, he went back to using the arm normally, and the muscles slowly pulled the collarbone back into its normal level position (because the newly joined bone is still fairly soft).

So I think in 2 months you'll be fine, unless you used to do very heavy lifting. Keep exercising your hand and lower arm as much as you can, to keep those muscles in good shape. Don't be afraid to move your upper arm, either, but only to the limits of where it starts to hurt. (For example, even now you should be able to pick up a cup from a table, but maybe not raise it to your mouth. You would not be able to comb your hair).
