Could the person calling from a private number be a telemarketer if they hang up almost right away?
Do telemarketers do stuff like that? Or does it have to be an actual person on the other end? I'm wondering because I get calls from telemarketers with their numbers unblocked from weird long distance areas and may have gotten a private call from one before, but they all start talking to me within a few seconds (usually automated). What do you think?
I guess I don't get the hang ups often, they're actually pretty seldom.
A lot of those telemarketers use a mechanized call system that rings several lines at once. The telemarketers will take the first line that they get an answer on and drop the other lines. If you picked up right after he got another line, your call would be dropped.
So, yes. This does happen.
