How do I know if I'm getting enough workout?
I just lost 90+ pounds, and I'm trying to firm up what's left. I've never been an exerciser (duh!), but I've joined a fitness center, and try to go at least 3 times a week.
One trainer there recommended 3 sets of 15 reps each on whatever machine I'm pumping, with about 30 seconds rest in between reps, with the weight set so that the last few reps are a real effort to complete. I usually start a session with a brisk 15 minutes on the treadmill, with 10 minutes on a stationary bike immediately after.
Altogether, after about an hour of pumping, pushing, and pulling I'm pretty well worn out. I know this isn't something that will magically happen overnight, but it would be nice to know if I'm doing enough, in the right sequence, and maybe how long before I should notice some buff cuts.
You know your getting a good work out if your muscles feel tight after your workout. If you feel sore the next day then you know your tearing muscle which means your building muscle up.
