I was wondering if anyone has any helpful tips for avoiding excess knee pain from running?
I am not a serious runner - I just do it as part of my overall fitness progran. I had been running a half mile on the treadmill 3 times a week. I recently increased that distance to a mile twice a week, and .7 mile once a week, and my knees (left one particularly) got really sore after 2 weeks.
I got some better shoes - had help choosing them from a salesperson at a running specialty store - and I think that will help. I have done a lot of online searching about ways to reduce it, but I am wondering if anyone has any personal experience or tips that they can share? Did I maybe increase my distance too much too quick? Could that be part of it?
I would greatly appreciate any honest advice. Thanks : )
Try to warm up your knee with heating pads n such before you run. Supporting the area with a knee support could help. Advil is an anti-inflammatory an will help, take it at least a 1/2 hour before you run
