Why should the president has more power post 911?

We’re having a debate about the presidential power/executive power after the incidence of 911. It’s very suck when I have to take on the viewpoint that Bush SHOULD have more power. I have been trying, but fail to find any piece of evidence that can be helpful. It’s really hard to argue on my side. Anyhow, which logic argument should I bring up at the table? Any useful info that I can take into account?
